WANNA LLAMA?

by Emily Cotton
Just looking at llamas
adds laughter to life,
and wild panoramas
bring respite from strife.
We’re gentle & deer like
with wise watchful calm,
great pals on a dayhike
who’ll eat off your palm.
If company’s pleasing
we’ll listen -- you talk;
each day is for seizing --
come on out and walk!
Let's birdwatch together
or roam down the road;
we dance in the heather
and lighten your load.
Why not pack a llama
and head for the hills,
enjoy nature’s drama
and wilderness thrills?
We friendly camelids
can tote on our backs
fresh food & soft air beds
for snoozing and snacks.
Unburden’d, with lightheart
we’ll break from the grind:
join up at the trail’s start,
leave pavement behind!
Adventure’s horizon
is calling: Unwind ---
your limbs exercize and
let peace fill your mind.

If young-uns have llamas
it helps build their brains.
We ease youthful traumas
and soothe growing pains.
Kids learn during training
both cause and effect,
and how to be gaining
their creature’s respect.
There’s fun at the trials as
his pet’s stuff he shows
successes bring smiles as
their confidence grows.
Take family packtrips --
the wide outdoor school;
fresh air, llama friendships
-- great parenting tool!

Perhaps you’d like llamas
to keep out in back,
some crias & mamas
or geldings who pack?
We’re hardy in weather
and don’t need a barn;
when you need a sweater
our wool spins to yarn.
We stomp the coyotes
and clear up the brush
so hay and some oat-ys
won’t cost very much;
invest a few hundred,
we’re sure to enthrall --
delight all your kindred
both grown-up and small!
